Tips for finding a job at a high end hair salon in San Francisco?

My niece will be graduating from beauty school soon and I'm looking for tips that will help her get into a good salon. Any information is very much appreciated.Tips for finding a job at a high end hair salon in San Francisco?
If she is just graduating she will probably have to start as an assistant. Some salons like to train new stylist to their ways. Most salons like to hire people with a clientele. If they don't offer assistant positions she can start off at a different salon to build her clientele and then switch once she is established. Try to stay in the same price range when switching salons. If you start out low and switch to high end some of your clients may not be able to take the price jump. Always keep a personal client record ( phone numbers, address, formulas) some salons consider client records their property, protect yourself and keep your own client list.Tips for finding a job at a high end hair salon in San Francisco?
First of all she Needs To dress and look the part.. Edgy/hip clothes Hair done nice ( color fresh). Not wearing something that she would wear to the grocery store.

She needs to go into some salons.. If she does not like the look of them tell her to walk out. Then She needs to Tell the Receptionist That she Has Just gotten out of beauty school and she was looking for a position as a Hairstylist. It would be a good idea if she started before she even graduated. Since it will Take her awhile to get Her final test and all that.. Not only that but they will be happy that she is so eager to want to work.

Now.. Alot of your Upscale salons Have like an assistant type programs. Which means that after they get out of beauty school U will go to work for the salon as an assistant/apprentice.They will get paid hourly. At our salon we have one.The assistants Do not Work on their own clients but they help with colors, blowdrys , stress reliefs, cleaning they also just do alot of standing and learning. On top of that they have classes where they work on models and learn more then they did at school.. Sometimes people do not want to do this after school..But really school is just the basics , so It can be really helpful. So she needs to think about whether she possibley wants to do that or not If the salons in your area do that. And how she does depends on when she gets out on the floor (having her own clients). The best thing for her to do Is be Confident and Tell them that it is her passion. Don't be shy..Alot of times they do most of the talking anyways ( us hairstylist are quite outspoken). As long as she has the look and they have a chair open it will all come together. She just needs to go and ask to fill out a aplication. Tell her everytime she walks in to a salon To look her best . Even if it is for an Aplication. Because They will Not be calling her back if she looks bad. That receptionist will put a little not on her ap saying she had sweats on...lol... Not to mention that but when she walks in that door she Might get a tour of the salon and a interview right on the spot...Need anymore tips let me know...Tell her I said GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Sure. just ask for a cut with a razor and ask for some layers from the top or middle without taking the length off. you can do it with scissors too but you wouldn't have such a better effect.

How much should i tip at a hiar salon?

im a guy with short hair getting an $8 haircut. what is a reasonable tip? or is it even necessary for a job that take ten minutes? How much should i tip at a hiar salon?
$2.00 would be about right. Lots of places charge $10 or more to start with. You're not only paying for the time it takes to cut your hair, you're paying for the expertise of the barber. If he or she does a good job every time, a $2.00 tip is definitely worth it. If you're not satisfied with the haircut, tip anyway, and then go somewhere else next time. How much should i tip at a hiar salon?
I麓m an irish guy and in Ireland we dont usually tip but if you want to its your decision. I麓d probably drop a tenner and say that thats good enough. 2$ for 10 minutes is more than generous enough.
    I wouldn't tip on a $8 hair cut. On a $100 hairstyle I give $10....

so $1 would be about right on an $8 haircut...which is unnecessary
Well first off, you spelled hair wrong. Uhmm and I believe that $100 dollars should be enough ...
    $2

How do they do a spray tan in a beauty salon?

i want to get a st tropez tan in a salon.

    how do they apply it?

do they make you strip right down for a full body or like keep ur underwear on??

just a curious question as i have never had it done before?

would you reccomend st tropez??How do they do a spray tan in a beauty salon?
Mine was a full body. Pants but no bra. They used a spray gun.

I like St Tropez xHow do they do a spray tan in a beauty salon?
I would recomend a mystic tan with is a temorally spray tan. You go in a room and completly strip down. You put this lotion in the booth on your nails so they dont turn orange. Put all of your hair in a cap but make sure the cap is really close next to the hairline so your forehead isnt half and half. Then press a button on the outside of the booth and it cleans it then you go inside and stand on this line and press a button and close your eyes spread your legs and put your arms up. hold your breath and keep your mouth closed. It goes up and down a few times then turn around and repeat...when its done dab your whole body with a towel so theres no streaks and your done

What is a fill in for nails at a salon?

My friends got me a 50 dollar gift card for a salon for my birthday and gave me a salon menu. Im looking for fake nails because i have a habit of biting my nails. And i was wondering if a fill in was what i was looking for ( i have never been to a salon to get my nails done)What is a fill in for nails at a salon?
If you've never had your nails done before you will need a full set. The full set is all nails with new tips and acrylic or gel overlay on them. The fill in will be your maintenance usually every two weeks. How short are your nails? If you have never had your nails done you may be able to just get manicures with some overlay and let your natural nail grow out. If you do complete fake nails it does damage your nail bed and if you are not committed to keeping up with fill in's you will not be happy and it will be hard to get the condition of your natural nails back. I have had my nails done for years and I can't break the cycle because my natural nails are shot. Call the salon, ask to speak with one of the nail techs and see what they recommend for you. Even different products are better suited for different activity levels. What is a fill in for nails at a salon?
its acrylic. i get mine done
a fill in is for when you already have fake nails and they grow out and you have to have the space filled in
a fill in is where you have fake nails and say they grow in so you have to get them filled in u dont want that. just ask for fake nails or tips.
no thats for fake nails that are growing out

What are your favorite services to get at a salon or day spa and why? Favorite part of whole visit?

I like the full pamper treatments...massages, facials, pedis/manis, haircut/style, and makeup. I like to leave there feeling like a new person. I like the salons that offer free snacks and beverages. In the winter I like some hot chocolate and a chocolate bon bon or even just tea...in the summer offer water or lemonade and a piece of minty chocolate. Chocolate is always a great thing to have at a salon spa...it gives the women a feeling of ephoria, which will make them want to return. Always have nice soothing music, it doesn't have to be just classical music...easy listening music is wonderful and classics are nice to hear too...if you want to make it a fun spa, have jazzy or big band (swing) music to make it original. I wouldn't keep the top 20 hits on replay. I think having inviting colors and intimate settings are ideal. The best experience is making sure timing is everything...don't leave a women waiting in the massage room if her nail appt. is running late. Take her to a general area when she is ready to leave the room for a beverage and current magazines. What are your favorite services to get at a salon or day spa and why? Favorite part of whole visit?
I love getting massages. The therapist plays soothing music and lights candles. I feel like I'm a celebrity almost. I can actually just relax and feel like someone is taking care of me. It's heaven. I always get ';stress relief massages';, so no deep tissue kneading.

I like getting it done proffesionally once in a while - it's nice not having to deal with it at all and it means I don't have to wash it and fiddle around with it before I go.

The only issue I have with it, is the sinks they make you put your head back into give me awful cramp - it takes me ages to get out of the blooming thing after.
No, I always feel super wierd about having someone else shampoo me. I don't really ever to the salon though (I am not very girly and I cut my own hair) so for me it is a very rare experience to begin with.
yes because i'm not very good at washing my hair so when i go to the salon, my hair finally gets completely clean! it feels so nice!

Salon dye is like : £60

Shop : £1.00 from pound shops or £2.00 in tesco

Whats the difference between shop hair dye and salon dye?
Salon is more perfectional people. Like bleaching ur hair from black to blond, If shops, u have to bleach it first, if u did it at a salon, the dye contain both color and bleach, but is not safe as shops. and u can get it last long and faster.

Like any other job, you can go into the salon and ask if they are currently hiring. Make sure you go dressed professionally and have confidence when you talk. Also, always bring a copy of your resume and any other information you would like them to review. Make sure you are confident with everything you say and hopefully if they are currently looking, you will get a spot!

where do i start? Is it that hard to open a tanning salon?
i was thinking about opening one as well, but with prices going up on things like gas, and with skin cancer such a big topic, i don't think this would be a good investment. this is also a seasonal type service. If you want to do tanning, try the mystic tanning, that is getting more and more popular and it's not bad for your skin.

i have discussed doing this with people and these are some of the negative things that we came up with

Will a salon show you how to curl your hair perfectly for extra money?

Of course... ask for a consult on the style your getting or while they are styling during a normal appointment just ask for them to explain things as they go along... you can always tip a little extra... I sort chat about what I am doing at times when I know this is the first time a client will be trying out a new style and wanting them to know what to expect when they try to do it themselves... and I get the extra tip... hope this helps...Will a salon show you how to curl your hair perfectly for extra money?

make sure you wear a button up shirt so you can take your top off easy

i would have a lawyer look over the papers you signed, first seek legal advice. its true, you didn't force your clients to go see you if you do change salons... but also you cant make them go back to that salon once you leave..

What is a BLOW OUT at the hair salon?

    Does it include a shampoo?

Have you ever had a blow out? What is a BLOW OUT at the hair salon?

%26amp; of you ask me , its not worth the money .

This is where you would come in, get your hair shampooed, then blown dry. If you have curly hair, it would be blown out smooth like with a round brush.

I had to go back to my beauty salon because part of my hair?

coloring was not done (by accident) in the front. I called the salon and the girl told me to come back in to have it redone by my stylist. On the phone she asked if I wanted it blown dry and I said yes due to the fact that it's cold outside. She made no mention of a fee for that. Usually there is a fee for a blow out but in this situation I had to go back because the coloring wasn't completed the first time. I had my coloring done and I was blown out. She charged me $30 for the blowout. I feel that I should not have been charged for the blow out due to the fact that I wouldn't have had to have the blow out done in the first place if the color was done correctly. Any ideas on this? Thanks.I had to go back to my beauty salon because part of my hair?
Its too late, and it's a lesson learned. You have to assert yourself in the moment that something occurs. Confrontation is not a fun thing, but it saves time and grief. I personally would not go back to the person, because they should be a professional and do the job right the first time.I had to go back to my beauty salon because part of my hair?
How redo's work at the salon I work at go like this. The thing that you are coming back in for should be free but anything additional isn't. The reson being is our time is our money. Now at my salon the blowouts are included in any haircut or color. It sounds like you go to a pretty upscale salon if just a blowdry is $30. Did she also style it out or just dry it? If it was just dried, that's maybe a little steep.
I agree, if it was done right in the first place you wouldn't of had to come back. I would go back and talk to the manager about this.
I would ask for my money back because it was not your fault that they did not finsh their job, and plus you are right you had to go back for them. And if they say no threaten to call your lawyer or something about the matter....i jus would not leave until i got my money....Good Luck

  • I want 2 shape my eyebrows at a salon but my parents wont let me?

1.should i just go to the salon by myself? (or do you need an adult to come)

    2.Do it at home.

3.Convince parents to let me get them done.

What should i do?I want 2 shape my eyebrows at a salon but my parents wont let me?
Better have the permission of ur parents before doing so!

If they don't accept,it's for certain reason which is good for u.

Or maybe it's ur age,so just wait 2 years....It's quick! A blink of eye!

    U will be assured then.

Peace!I want 2 shape my eyebrows at a salon but my parents wont let me?
you do not have to go to a salon. many hair places will provide the same in the chair and are cheaper. it is feeling comfortable with whom you pick to do it and staying with that person. it is just a little wax. but you do not want to do yourself. you want it to be even and not look funny. if you do it once and they pay, tell them you will maintain after yourself so they know you are serious about it.

so you get it done, should be done every week or two on hair growth. get some tweezers and watch your eyebrow growth, plucking the hairs as they come in so you dont have to go back to the salon.

it is a luxury and not a necessity. hope this helps.
    3

tell your parents that you could try plucking them yourself but if you mess up you would have to live with it for a long time

my parents let me start going to the salin when i was like in the 5th grade becuase people were making fun of me
Don't do it at home! That could have dire results. I doubt you want to show up at school with one eyebrow. XD

Try and convince them, but if that doesn't work and you're willing to accept the consequences just go yourself.

    That's what I'd do. Lol.
i don't think you should get it done because your parents don't want you to and they don't want you to because they probably don't think it will be safe. it is a parent thing but im not a parent. you could wait till you are older then they couldnt tell you what to do. so i would wait
Ya you can go to the salon by your self ..but dont, just show them that you are old enough
if ur parents say no then dont

but if they say tat u shouldnt do it at a salon

    then do number 2

but make sure ur parents will no

    cuz u might get grounded

    if they wont no
JUST GO WITH ONE OF YOUR CLOSE FRIENDS TO GO GET THEM DONE

AND JUS END UP GETTIN HOME WITH YOUR EYEBROWS ALL PURRTY THATS WUT I DID

WHO CARES WUT UR PARENTS SAY ITS YOUR FACE DO WAT U WANT WIT IT
try the 3rd one if it didn't work go to the 1st one and if it didn't work go to the 2cd but btw how old ru?
3, you probably will get grounded for the other 2.
    Definitely 3.
Do it yourself. If you are under the age of 18, they shouldn't do it without a parent present.
    2
You don't need anyone at the salon.

    So either option works.
number 1 cauz it will be done and ur parents can only ground u 4 so long!
go to salon your self but you do not need a adult
    how old are you?
    how old r u first ?

What different waste products are in a hair salon? How do you keep them together?

We recycle like other people, and use a trashcan just like everyone else.

Mostly our ';Waste'; products go down the toilet or the sink, Just like everyone else.

Does anyone know of a painless waxing salon in New York?

I have no tolerance for any pain, but I have extremely hairy legs! I have missed out on vacations and swimming because of my embarrassment- and the lack of solutions. I've tried shaving, but because my hair is so thick, it grows back very rough and itchy. I've also tried at-home waxing kits, and even the highly recommended 'no scream cream' but it hasn't worked for me. I think the only way to get over this is to get an anesthetic at the hospital, but I am still waiting to find out if this is an option.

If someone can recommend a salon that is known to have careful methods for people like me, or a product that really works and doesn't have risky side-effects, would be so grateful!!Does anyone know of a painless waxing salon in New York?
Sweetie it is going to hurt a little bit best thing to do is relax when you go to grt your legs waxed it hurt the 1st time with me but i got used of the pain it doesnt hurt anymore

  • I have a job interview at a salon tomorrow. What would be a good way to wear my long hair?

Put it in something spunky and exotic. You want to show the people that you know what you are doing! Don't make it look like you tried too hard tho..just wear it. Your personality matters teh most, rememberI have a job interview at a salon tomorrow. What would be a good way to wear my long hair?
I would fix it very pretty so they know you can work.I have a job interview at a salon tomorrow. What would be a good way to wear my long hair?
make it look the best so they no what u can do 2 the customers
I was taught that for typical interviews you should wear your hair back to show that you are serious. However, since your interview is at a salon, perhaps a simple ponytail won't do so maybe you should do something a little more complicated to it, but still- put it up.
wear it natural how you like it.

I want it to turn out like this: http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn203/_livelaughloveshop_/Hairiwant1-1.jpg

And I already have the blond she has naturally. About how much would it cost to get the color she has?About how much would it cost to get my hair done at a salon?
That's a lot of steps you would have to get golden blonde color with bleach blonde light highlights throughout and a heavy bleach blonde and dark brown highlights in front. Depending on what salon you go to it could be between $50 and $75 plus the cut will be another $20About how much would it cost to get my hair done at a salon?
style/cut it would cost maybe 60-70 dollars.
probably 20-30 dollars but it really depends on the salon.
Depends on which salon you go to.

A cheap salon, which might not do a very good job, would cost about $10-$15 for the cut and $20-$30 for the color.

A good salon, which I really suggest if you want your hair to turn out right, will cost around $20-$30 for the cut and $40-$50 for the color.
probably like 100 bucks or around there, depending on how long your hair is and where you go, I highly suggest going somewhere that is not a cheap salon like she said because i got mine done at a cheap one last time and they didnt know what they were doing and did not do it right at all! Its better to pay the little extra to get it done right.
well if you already have the blonde and you just need the dark color you will need to be low lighted and i would charge you 75
    Probably $20- 30.
my stylist made me pay around $80 for color %26amp; a wash :o

I do live in NYCHow often do you get your hair washed and blown out at the salon?
whenever i got get a hair cut like once a yearHow often do you get your hair washed and blown out at the salon?
    It depends.

Usually I go once a week because I try to maintain it myself but if I feel really lazy, I go once a month (which doesn't make sense).
Personally, never but I have clients who come in weekly.
The last time was 12 years ago.
Never, unless I'm getting it cut which is rare since I'm growing it out.
Every three months for a trim %26amp; color :)
Like once a year. I have my own blow dryer at home.

Can you go to any hair salon to donate my hair to Locks of Love?

Children with cancer rarely (as in almost never) receive wigs from locks of love. As long as people are not donating their hair in honor of a cancer patient they love . . than there is no harm. The disappointment comes when you realize that your hair will never benefit a child who has lost hair after chemotherapy. If you don't care where the hair goes than this is fine . . however the question does not belong in a cancer category as it has nothing to do with cancer.

Just a note about Locks of Love. This organization makes wigs for kids with Alopecia Areata, which is not cancer, but an unusual hair loss condition. Only 3 percent of any child who has had cancer gets a wig from locks of love. Children with cancer hair loss are denied wigs by Locks of Love because their hair loss is temporary. LOL gives only to children with permanent hair loss.

So, when you cut your hair you are NOT giving children with cancer a wig . . just so you understand that.

There are other organizations that make wigs specifically for children who have temporary hair loss after cancer treatment.

Be under 18 years of age.

Have long-term hair loss from alopecia areata (an autoimmune disease), scalp burns, or a similar medical condition. Children whose hair loss is due to chemotherapy may be EXCLUDED from consideration, as their condition is considered temporary.

    Provide proof of financial need.

Submit two letters of recommendation, a photo, and an essay.

Locks of Love does not provide all hairpieces free of charge. According to its website, prices for human-hair wigs are set on a sliding scale based on the recipient's family income.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locks_of_Lo鈥?/a>Can you go to any hair salon to donate my hair to Locks of Love?
call the salon first if they give the hair to locks of love. or you can have it cut send the hair yourself. also your hair has to be at least even. layered hair will just give them problems. Can you go to any hair salon to donate my hair to Locks of Love?
No most don't, but will cut it for you according the directions on the site.

    http://www.locksoflove.org
Not any salon, but some participate. I would recommend visiting the website and reading about the requirements, getting it cut and sending it in yourself.
All you do is send it. You can do it anywhere, as long as it is in a ponytail and 10 inches. I am actually doing it this weekend!
Here's the information from their donor page: http://www.locksoflove.org/donate.html

Many salons don't automatically assume the responsibility of prepping the hair properly, packaging it as required, and absorbing the cost of mailing. If you're eager to donate, you may have to do some of the ';work'; yourself and pay the costs.
Nope, unfortunately. You should call the salon you want to go to and ask if they will cut it %26amp; send it to Locks of Love for you. Some salons will cut your hair, but then have you send it in an envelope to Locks of Love, others will do it all for you, and some don't do anything for Locks of Love.

Good for you for being so generous %26amp; donating your hair to a wonderful organization!
Yes! I have done it many times. Just tell the stylist that you want them to take enough hair to have them give to Locks of Love and they will take care of the rest.

I know they need the hair for wigs. My mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer and her hair fell out and she got 2 wigs. Props to you!!

My Daughter wants to work at a salon. is this possible?

she is only 11, but she is very mature for her age. She will be 12 in a few months. She said they don't even have to pay her. She wants to maybe work at the front desk, or fetch shampoo bottles when needed. She just enjoys this. And she is very mature for her age. Would they let her?My Daughter wants to work at a salon. is this possible?
    i dont think so

    1)cause of her age

    2)she has no expeirnece

my sister wanted to do this once before and they wouldn't even let her and shes 29My Daughter wants to work at a salon. is this possible?
hmm if its small stuff like that she might not get paid for it like you said that would be fine but most of the time i knew a lot of teens when i was in highschool would do that volunteering, or just to be an intern for experience, so i dont know how young you would have to be because even for them it was hard to get a chance, you should go directly to the source and ask them if they can pay her or not and what the reasons are, other that if she wants to do more all i know is that anyone without a liscense can only work at a salon for 6 months
i don't beleive they will let her work for pay at that age, but i would reccomend she speaks to salon owners to see if she can volunteer afterschool or on the weekends. i don't think that would be a problem.... its great that you support her with this : )
They might but it isn't likely. Do you know someone who works in a salon who could talk her up? That is probably your best bet. Most people are not willing to take chances on someone that young no matter how mature they are or how small their job would be.
my good friend got a job at a salon when she was 14, so maybe! she worked at the front desk and also swept up hair and things like that. they might! or maybe when she is a tiny bit older!
I dont think so, unless she's related or good friends with one the salon employees or something.
no its not legal, even just 'fetching shampoo bottles when needed'. they might, though, if you know someone who'll get permission. good luck
It may depend on the child labor laws. At 11 she may just be too young.

you do not have to go to a salon. many hair places will provide the same in the chair and are cheaper. it is feeling comfortable with whom you pick to do it and staying with that person. it is just a little wax. but you do not want to do yourself. you want it to be even and not look funny. if you do it once and they pay, tell them you will maintain after yourself so they know you are serious about it.

so you get it done, should be done every week or two on hair growth. get some tweezers and watch your eyebrow growth, plucking the hairs as they come in so you dont have to go back to the salon.

it is a luxury and not a necessity. hope this helps.
    3

tell your parents that you could try plucking them yourself but if you mess up you would have to live with it for a long time

my parents let me start going to the salin when i was like in the 5th grade becuase people were making fun of me
Don't do it at home!

  • What is your worst experience in a beauty salon?

My stylist was so busy that day, she confused me with a different client and I ended up getting 7 inches cut off, bobbed and dyed a different color than I went for. What is your worst experience in a beauty salon?
A frizzy horrid perm--I cried! What is your worst experience in a beauty salon?
dying my hair the wrong color
I thought the style was cute but when I got home a was the laughing stock of the neighborhood.

I have a job interview at a salon tomorrow.

  • Would a 2kva generator run a small salon with 2 2000watts hairdryers and 2 shapoo units with undersink heater?

Not even close. You need to add up the wattage of all of the equipment (don't forget lighting and other equipment!) to size the generator. Spec the generator at no less than 125% of the total load in kilowatts. Most generators are spec'd in KW, not KVA. If a generator is spec'd in KVA, use 150% instead of 125%.

    Example:

    Dryers: 4,000 watts

    Water heaters: 5,000 watts

    Lighting: 500 watts

    Other: 500 watts

    Total: 10,000 watts.

Minimum generator size needed: 12,500 watts (12.5 KW) or 15,000 VA (15 KVA).Would a 2kva generator run a small salon with 2 2000watts hairdryers and 2 shapoo units with undersink heater?
Find a competent electrician. The load you have would quickly ruin a 5 KVA unit. At the very least it would kick off line repeatedly. Add up the wattage of all loads and use 150% of that to size your generator. A competent electrician would know that. Sorry.

Would a 2kva generator run a small salon with 2 2000watts hairdryers and 2 shapoo units with undersink heater?
The load appears too much for the generator. The two hair dryers alone would overload the generator.

For the indicated load, you require a larger generator. Sum up all the loads, then from there look for a more suitable generator.
    Dear pa,

Thank you, am also fine like you then dear i thought for continuous operation this is not advisable.Better go for leastly higher capacity generator.

There are other organizations that make wigs specifically for children who have temporary hair loss after cancer treatment.

call the salon first if they give the hair to locks of love. or you can have it cut send the hair yourself. also your hair has to be at least even. layered hair will just give them problems.

I need to find some big comfy chairs. I will not be using those expensive pedicure chairs like the others. What we will be doing is setting up regular chairs and at the foot of the chair we will be putting really nice bowls. HELP!!!I am opening up a salon...HELP!! where can i find big comfy chairs?
The most amazingly supporting and comfortable chairs I know, are also space efficient and mid-century modern classics. Here is a quality authorized reproduction:

    http://www.dwr.com/product/classics/seat鈥?/a>

To sit in this chair is an amazing experience - and it is practical. The cushions could be covered in any material you wanted. Be sure to try the LC2 not the LC3. While the 3 looks like it would be more comfy, the added width results in too little support.

These would add serious stylish elegance to any salon.I am opening up a salon...HELP!! where can i find big comfy chairs?

How to keep my eyebrows in shape without gong to the salon?

    Tweeze the stray hairs!

    But don't go pluck crazy!!
I brush my eyebrow, trim it with tiny scissors.

After that, I use a stencil to darken in the exact shape of my brow.

I wax and pluck everything outside of the darkened area

I use powder and clear eyebrow gel (bought at any drugstore) to keep the hairs in place and looking smooth.
to keep them trimmed by a eyebrow brush. They are inexpensive. Brush the eyebrow upward and lightly trim. Then brush the eyebrow into the natural shape. They make even an eyebrow gel (Sephora has it) it keeps the eyebrow in place.

In case of unibrow get a mini battery operated shaver and start from the middle of the nose bridge and your eyebrow should not exceed the corner of your eye.

Can you get infections when you get pedicures at a nail salon type place?

Yes, you definitely can. Be sure that your salon practices appropriate sanitation; if this sort of infection happens more than once 1) find a new salon and 2) report the old one to the health department! Can you get infections when you get pedicures at a nail salon type place?
fungal spores from nail clippings and burring procedures can result in lung fungal infection, nail fungus(might take months for it to show),,,,the place has to observe state regs about ascepsis in doing business,,,,,,,besides fungus theres 30 kinds of bacteria that can cause skin infection ,,,,,,,
supposedly you can, but i heard that if they cut of ur cuticules it causes infection but ive done them more than once and thank god nothing yet, i guess it also depends on ur skin type
    Yes you can...I did.
    Hi from France 鈾?br>

I think it's possible, however most nail salons are clean ...

    Have a nice day,

    Cat.
yes...you could get some fungal infections easily and even from the person giving the pedicure if she's infected with some skin disease.
you could, if theyre not keen on hygiene

ideally the equipment used should be sterilized so as to be free from germs but we all know some shops cut corners.

better you do it yourself its cheaper and you could minimize infection and because it is you thats doing the cutting and the pushing , pain and injuries are minimized.
SURE IF THE PLACE IS DIRTY.
that would be a #1 place d/t peolpe not sanitizing properly between customers
    most definitely
yes you can. if things like nail files and nail clippers haven't been properly dissinfected., stuff like fungus can easily be past on. eewwwww!
absolutley. they can use not pure antibacterial cleaner because its cheap for them... also they are supposed to clean between clients (ALL their tools) AND not reuse certain files and whatnot. I personally went to a shop and noticed they did this and i left. you can find what salons should be doing on the state cosmetology licensing board website.
hi, yes you can get very nasty infections

If they re use towels and dont disinfect them you can ger a bacterial skin infection

when you go please make sure to ask them to give you a frsh towel and see to it that you carry your own Pumic stone and other things you will need to invest in a pedicure set that way it wiil be your stuf they use

edit: if you want to prove to me that ';scene hair'; can EVER look ok on someone, give me pics of your hair. i dare you.
I attempted to get scene hair back in January. I had this friggin awesome picture with me, and it had a bunch of layers, ranging from 2 inches to about 7 inches. Well, my hairdresser totally did it wrong, and I didn't realize it until after I left the salon. She didn't even put in my short layers. :( So now I look normal. lol.

It really depends on the hairdresser, to me.

%26amp; yes, Georgie is just jealous. Scene hair is fanflippintastic.

EDIT: Don't defensive people just make your day? Ugh.
Hahaha, when you get Scene Hair done at the salon, it's not REAL Scene Hair. To get REAL Scene Hair, you must blind fold yourself, spin around really fast for a bit, and then stop quickly and cut pieces of hair off with pinking shears.

    Ta da! Perfect Scene Hair.

  • I have a couple of queations about tanning in a tanning salon.?

my first question is, how can i get dark fast?

and my second question is can i go in a tanning bed with hair spray and hair gel on? because i know you cant use suntan lotion because it messes up the bulbs.I have a couple of queations about tanning in a tanning salon.?
To get dark fast, get a lotion with a bronzer in it. Make sure your skin is well moisturized. Tingle lotions work well for dark tans also. But they do a little more than ';tingle'; in my opinion... I felt like my skin was ON FIRE for an hour after using tingle lotion. Another tip is to go every day for the first 10 - 15 days. I know most people say that's really bad, but it's the best way to get dark fast.

And about the hair products... I have never been told about hair products not being allowed in the beds, nor have I seen signs posted in salons about it. How much gel are you talking about? I normally just put my hair up in a ponytail or bun type thing so my neck and shoulders tan nicely. In any case, I don't think anyone is going to tell you that you can't tan if you have hair spray or gel in your hair - unless for some reason you have so much on it is visibly dripping from your hair or something!I have a couple of queations about tanning in a tanning salon.?
if u can find a high-pressure tanning bed....5 times in that and u look like you live in L.A..u NEVER burn and after first visit u see major tanning! it is expensive but safer than low-pressure %26amp; guarantee never 2 burn.........i went 2 years ago 5 times and i had the best tan.and my friends were going everyday !
If you wanna get dark really fast start out in a high pressure bed. You'll notice results after going just once and your a lot less likely to get burned. A lot of people say use a tanning lotion with bronzer in it, but I've tried a lot of different bronzing lotions and didn't ever see really dark results. What really works best is an accelerator with Tyrosine in it which will help your skin produce melanin. My favorite is Rayz Rapid Tan Intensifier by Supre. It gets me really dark and fast. If you still don't get as dark as you want then use a self tanner. Mouses and sprays produce more color in my opinion so try that. As for the hair gel and hairspray thing, I don't think it really matters I do it all the time.
I would suggest getting a tanning lotion that is made for tanning beds. They usually have them at the salon and get something with a bronzer. And your hair is fine I would just remove your makeup.

What materials can I use to make chairs for a model salon?

    Foam

    Styrofoam

    Model Magic (Crayola)

I am opening up a salon...HELP!! where can i find big comfy chairs?

I need to find some big comfy chairs. I will not be using those expensive pedicure chairs like the others. What we will be doing is setting up regular chairs and at the foot of the chair we will be putting really nice bowls. HELP!!!I am opening up a salon...HELP!! where can i find big comfy chairs?
The most amazingly supporting and comfortable chairs I know, are also space efficient and mid-century modern classics. Here is a quality authorized reproduction:

To sit in this chair is an amazing experience - and it is practical. The cushions could be covered in any material you wanted. Be sure to try the LC2 not the LC3. While the 3 looks like it would be more comfy, the added width results in too little support.

These would add serious stylish elegance to any salon.I am opening up a salon...HELP!! where can i find big comfy chairs?
Ikea, pottery barn, linens and things, bed bath and beyond or any furniture store really. If you are looking for bright, vibrant colors than go to pottery barn teen. Good luck, hope you find something!

How to keep my eyebrows in shape without gong to the salon?

i am in fyjc and my mom isnt allowing me 2 go 2 the salon and my eyebrows are grown a lot .....help!!!How to keep my eyebrows in shape without gong to the salon?
I would just Pluck. How to keep my eyebrows in shape without gong to the salon?
    Tweeze the stray hairs!

    But don't go pluck crazy!!
to keep them trimmed by a eyebrow brush.

Question for anyone who got their scene hair done at a salon?

was it done nicely and which salon?

thanks☺Question for anyone who got their scene hair done at a salon?
    Yes, it was done wonderfully

    Salons I go to:

    The one at wallmart, haha

    Saterdays

    Kenneths (expensive!)

    Salon Lofts (expensive as well)

edit: My hair does not look like whatever animal you just said it looks like haha

edit: aw, c'ome on guys, not ALL scene hair looks crappy, yes, a lot of it does, but not all of it!Question for anyone who got their scene hair done at a salon?
    scene hair is gross.

it looks like a dead possum on your head.

edit: i am not jealous, i have fantastic hair. think-uma thurman in pulp fiction

sorry that you all seem to get so offended that i dont want to look like im wearing a dead raccoon on my head, and dont want to cake on makeup that makes me look dead and with a black eye.

edit: i agree with livvy haha. why pay money, when your hair is going to look like it was done by a 5 year old anyways? :P

edit: if you want to prove to me that ';scene hair'; can EVER look ok on someone, give me pics of your hair.

  • Can you get infections when you get pedicures at a nail salon type place?

According to the Tyra Banks show you can get infections. . . but I forgot what she said, sorryCan you get infections when you get pedicures at a nail salon type place?

I have a couple of queations about tanning in a tanning salon.?

my first question is, how can i get dark fast?

and my second question is can i go in a tanning bed with hair spray and hair gel on? because i know you cant use suntan lotion because it messes up the bulbs.I have a couple of queations about tanning in a tanning salon.?
